IESB Exchange

It’s that time of the school year again: Year Five of the IESB Canadian Exchange Program is preparing for lift-off! The plane leaves tomorrow and our four students (2 boys and 2 girls) from the 2015-2016 Year 8 class are soon to be all packed and ready to go to Oakville, a suburb of Toronto, Canada.

If you don’t really know that much about the program, here’s a little information about how it all works. There are two exchange periods, each lasting a total of three weeks. First, we will send our students to Canada from October 2ⁿᵈ to October 24ᵗʰ and then we will receive the Canadian students for three weeks next year in March.

The application process was tough this year, as we had over 38 extremely bright students apply for the 2015-2016 program. After all the applications were received, former IESB Principal Mr Saphir and Assistant Principal Mr Marcus Segerstedt and I sat down and began going through the stack. We were impressed by what we read and made a list of students we wanted to talk more with. Interviewing the selected candidates was a treat, as we got to see first-hand the excitement and anticipation many students feel in regards to the exchange program.

As a result of this application and interview process, we chose David, Fabian, Linda, and Louise. This is a great group of kids and I am very much looking forward to following along their blog posts during their trip.
